I'm technically late for this one but shush, I haven't been to sleep yet so it's still the 7th. ;) Also it was requested on the 5th. ;) I'm super curious about the requester of this one, in case I hadn't made that clear!

Anyway, this is still for the December talking meme, for which I still owe comments. I'm enjoying the incentive to post so feel free to ask me more stuff. :D

Basically I got into Big Finish for Romana and so all my favourites involve her. My ABSOLUTE favourite is the Gallifrey series, even though I'm like...2 seasons behind. I like pitching this to people as Xena meets The West Wing, so of course it makes me really happy. Mostly I'm there for Romana and Leela, as a friendship and as a ship. Someday I will write epic fic for them. Or someone will write it for me. My understanding is the focus is less on their friendship in later seasons which is partly why I haven't got caught up yet.

OTHER than that I love Neverland and Zagreus, just because to me they really showcase what audio drama as a medium (and actually this applies to comics too) can do, because they're not really limited by budgets or, like, the laws of physics. ;) It's REALLY cool. Plus I just love the sprawling, epic, loving ridiculousness of these two. The first time I listened to them I was SO CONFUSED because at that point my only exposure to Classic Who was Romana I and Romana II's seasons with the Fourth Doctor.

I also have a soft spot for the UNIT audios.

ALSO all of Nyssa's outings with 5. <3 ALSO Peri and Erimem!! <3 And Hex. Aw, Big Finish.

OK, I don't really have a lot to say about Big Finish audios it turns out, but <3.

I could never get into Big Finish as much as I wanted to, my brain has a hard time processing audio only input - I have the same problem with audiobooks and podfic - but I made a concentrated effort for the first couple of seasons of Gallifrey, because they were everything I ever wanted; they had a bodyswap episode of all things!

The existence of epic fic for them would gladden my heart, just sayin'

WHEE! Big Finish! I love audio drama in general and Big Finish just feeds into that love big time. I came in through 8th Doctor and Charley, because I couldn't wrap my brain around the 8th Doctor being written well as opposed to well that movie we don't speak of... I've gone from there to some of the classic Doctors I'm not nearly as familiar with. I love Gallifrey but I'm *so* behind on it. I also love Counter Measures, their 1960s era spinoff from "Remembrance of the Daleks" and their "Confessions of Dorian Gray" series. Audio dramas do spooky very well -- the mind supplies the horror so much better than visuals for me.

(Although I will agree with you about Neverland/Zagreus -- the whole anti-time storyline was just ridiculous, but I did love being introduced to Lalla Ward's Romana. I've been slowly Netflixing the Key to Time series to meet 4 and Romana I.)

Just seeing someone mention the UNIT audios and Hex brightened my day (even if I am very behind on Hex audios... I have kinda given up listening to them)
