I thought I better start actually putting the picspam together, even though I've not done the New Who bits yet. Maybe they can be a separate picspam. Possibly next week. ;)

Now I've entirely cheated and mostly used the Tragical History Tour cuz I felt this would get out of hand enough without taking my own caps. I'm also using two caps of

doyle_sb4's and 2 or 3 of

agapi42's. Oh, the Gallifrey inside sleeve-y things are provided by

elyssadc, for whom

sheikm very kindly scanned them, so much yay and thanks and credit to all those people. :D The covers are from various googled sources like amazon and big Doctor Who reference sites.

Anyway. As you may know, Bob, I'm All About The Girls so I thought it'd be fun to put ALL the ~~sub~~textual lesbian shenanigans in Doctor Who that I could think of EVER AT ALL in one picspam and see what it looked like. The answer so far is very big. :D

Cuz it's my picspam and I'm entirely biased I'm starting with Leela and Romana. ;D

I like this one cuz they look more Romana & Leela-ish in it. I think, anyway.

Sadly cuz they're mostly really gay in audio format we only have the covers and insides of the CDs they're gay on as evidence. As evidence goes, it's pretty good. There's even some Romana/Pandora/Leela action going on there. I say action. It's more like they were all in a photo together, but with some OTPs in the Whoniverse that's totally all the evidence you need. ;D

I couldn't bear to talk about Romana/Leela and pass up an opportunity to mention Spirit. Besides, they're coming out of each other's heads. They're sharing Unity! Like Delvians! On the front cover! For shame!

Since we're on the subject of Gallifrey audios anyway you've always got Darkel/Romana. I really can't understand why there's not more fic, you guys. It could be the femslash version of Doctor/Master! So could Romana/Rani but anyway.

Speaking of Darkel, it dawned on me ~~earlier today while compiling this picspam~~ recently that Darkel/Leela has possibilities. ;)

There's also Romana/Pandora which has the fabulously narcissistic element of Pandora's wandering around looking like Romana's first incarnation. ;D

To demonstrate there's some sort of method to my madness, we'll stick with audios for now (audios seem to make for more gay, is this just me?). Next up we've got Peri and Erimem who, for my money, are almost as canonically gay as Romana and Leela. ;D Sadly they're almost impossible to find pictures of so I had to settle for these ones. Hurrah for India Fisher's website, I say.

These were from the recording of Zagreus and I dunno about you guys, but they just make me die of glee. ;D

I also found this one among the Zagreus ones and I think Romana/Charley and Romana/Leela/Charley has EXCELLENT possibilities, myself. ;D Although they don't look too happy with each other here. Maybe they're acting?

From here I thought we'd move on to showing Leela and Romana were by no means each other's first girlfriend. ;D

Leela, of course, had Rodan. She was her first serious girlfriend.

Before that, however, came her fling with annoying-clingly-girl-from-Robots-of-Death-whose-name-I-could-have-looked-up-in-the-time-it-took-to-type-this.

This cap leads me to believe annoying-clingly-girl-from-Robots-of-Death-whose-name-I-could-have-looked-up-in-the-time-it-took-to-type-this is either really good or really bad in bed. Also, that's a truly fabulous hat. Leela's penchant for Time Lords explained?

Now Romana also had plenty of girlfriends before Leela. We've already discussed Darkel.

There was Princess Astra, of whom she was so fond, she copied her body when she regenerated. :D

Even if she did make some really really weird comments sometimes.

I like to think it was her relationship with Darkel that seems to have given Romana a taste for power-hungry women.

The Doctor thinks Romana's new girlfriend is crazy. He shouldn't worry, so does Romana by the looks of things. Or she could be checking out her Dalek bumps.

Astra's S/O isn't too happy with the situation either, I'd say.

Romana: 'Oh noes! My girlfriend of the week is unconscious!'
Doctor: 'Do you think K9's hungry?...Sorry, what?'

Yes, I'm really stretching with this one and Della's a bit boring anyway. Moving on.

I actually don't think of her as one of Romana's girlfriends of the week, however I'm including her cuz Lalla spent a lot of 'The Leisure Hive' commentary talking about how gorgeous she is and what a fabulous actress and how good she looked in the costume. Draw your own conclusions. ;D

I'm just including this one cuz it's Babs! And Romana! Inna picture! With turbans and panto outfits. ;D

Ok, so this is hardly a girlfriend of the week but I love this scene. Romana cuts her finger and it's Camilla who's all over her. :D (Maybe my new year's resolution should've been less emoticons...)

I think now I'll be moving on to other Sapphic companions, followed by tertiary gay characters. See, I has structure. ;D

No femslash picspam would be complete without Zoe and Isobel.

Zoe's looking up Isobel's skirt, we're looking up Zoe's. It's like an endless feedback loop or something.

Section Leader Liz Shaw and Scientist Petra Williams just got outed...

Personally I think they've got better hair in the real world. Liz is trying to be srs skiency bizness. Petra wants to stare at Liz's lips. Sure sign of attraction, guys. (Oh, I~~'m starting to~~ sound crazy. ;D)

Since I'm talking about Liz being gay, 'The Blue Tooth' deserves a mention here. It's really all about Liz's epic gay love affair when she was at university. I'm not even making that up. :D Liz/Jean actually properly OTP.

Jo's only girlfriend is almost as cute as her.

I might get a better cap of this later but I thought

hhertzof was right, the Queen of Peladon and Sarah Jane deserved a mention.

Sarah Jane and Virna are white suited, gun-toting, space Ark love.

Very srs intense staring. Also I realised while making this picspam that if you don't like Sarah's 70s make up, you are dead to me, I'm afraid.

Another pair I couldn't well leave out were of course Nyssa and Tegan.

The TARDIS is huge, why do they share a room?

This mansion in Black Orchid is almost as big as a TARDIS, STILL they share a room. I like to think the two beds in both cases are just for appearances. Also aw, she's helping her dress.

Nyssa 2 wants in on the fun. And there's dress up!

Hee, ok, we've hit Ace and her girlfriends. ;D

First there was Mel. And seriously, you have no idea how much I wish we'd got a 7/Ace/Mel team. If there was any justice in the world, we would have.

I actually don't remember this girl's name or even if she counts as one of Ace's girlfriends. This is because I fell asleep at least once in every single part of this serial. I'm including this picture for thoroughness. Or something. *nod*

Here we have Ace and Karra. I apparently decided the thing to cap was Karra's death scene.

It's actually terribly sad. Ace is very cut up about it.

I'm not sure if I've said this yet or not but one of my favourite things about Old Who is when you'll randomly get a pair of women you actually think are lesbians as guest stars. My cases in point are:

The UNIT scientist women from Rememberance of the Daleks. I think they're meant to be send ups of Liz and Jo but anyway, they're FABULOUS. Maybe my favourite thing about this serial and that's saying a lot considering how good a serial it is. They bicker skientifically and poke at things, it's great.

Seven likes them too, that's good endorsement, right?

These two don't quite belong in this category but anyway.

I choose to believe this is not an object lesson on the dangers of Sapphism.

Who's best case of subtextual lesbians, Vivian and Amelia. ;D 'This is my...friend, Vivian Fey.' And then Amelia was so sad at the end. :(

Um. Thus concludes our picspam. It's giant, has no sense of structure or direction and really REALLY got away from me a bit.

New Who, Torchwood and SJA forthcoming, hopefully. Er, not in time for Day o' Classic but better late than never, right?
